Terms and Conditions

Thanks for shopping at The Layman’s Avenue. We appreciate the fact that you like to buy the cool stuff we carry. We also want to make sure you have a rewarding experience while exploring, evaluating, and purchasing our products at The Layman’s Avenue.

As with any shopping experience, there are terms and conditions that apply to transactions at The Layman’s Avenue. By placing an order or making a purchase at The Layman’s Avenue, you agree to the terms set forth below along with The Layman’s Avenue Data Protection Policy and Terms of Use.

Refund/Exchange Policy

We want you to be happy with the products you buy from us. If you find it defective or faulty, you may notify us within two (2) days of receiving your item. The items must be returned to us within seven (7) working days of the date your return is approved. All we need from you is to contact us at [email protected] so we can facilitate the return.

However, the policy is subject to the conditions below:

    1. 1) We will not accept refunds or exchanges of a product that you have bought and received where, in our reasonable opinion, the product has: become of unacceptable quality due to fair wear and tear; misuse; using it in an abnormal way; or failure to take reasonable care.

    1. 2) We are unable to accommodate refunds or exchanges for all items. Please note that the following items are not eligible:
      • Products described as ‘Made to Order’, ‘Custom-Made’ or ‘Customized’ items.
      • Goods ordered to your specifications (I.E.: monogrammed items, cut fabrics and wallpaper)
      • Items marked as Clearance, “As-is” or any form of display Items,
      • Items without an original receipt or gift receipt
      • Used beddings, towels, pillows and mattresses
      • Hazardous materials, live botanicals, aerosols
      • Kitchen or electrical utensils and appliances
      • Damaged items resulting from misuse, abuse, normal wear & tear and incorrect self-assembly and products damaged after leaving the warehouse.
      • Items purchased under Promotion, Sales, Purchase-with-purchase, Bundles, Limited Deals and Final sale items.

    1. 3) “As-is” items, display items and floor samples may have inherent cosmetic defects, and may not have the appearance of looking brand new. Upon purchasing, customers acknowledge that they are fully aware of these cosmetic defects and that the discounted price of these items sold reflect this acknowledgement.

      “As-is” items, display items and floor samples are not applicable for any other promotion,sale, discount, code, coupon and/or offer.

    1. 4) To ensure a successful return, please make sure your piece is in as-new condition, and that you have the original packaging. Returns must be made in the original packaging. If you no longer have the original packaging, there is an additional MYR50.00 per item repackaging fee.

    1. 5) To process your return, we will need information from your original receipt. Returns with the original receipt will be refunded in the original form of payment.

    1. 6) Proof of purchase for eligible items is required to issue an appropriate refund or exchange for eligible items. For your convenience, we will accept the following as proof of your purchase:
      • Original Paper Receipt
      • Gift Receipt
      • E-Receipt
      • Original Packing Slip
      • Order Number

    1. 7) Once approved, our team will provide you with a Return Ticket and instructions to return shipping. Your refund will be issued after your item is received at our warehouse.

    1. 8) All returns will incur a return collection fee (refer below) and an administrative fee of 5% from the item(s) amount.

    1. 9) Shipping is a hard cost we incur from our logistics partners. If you decide to return the item, a restocking fee of 15% per delivery order for items valued below MYR 500.00, or MYR 150.00 per delivery order for items valued above MYR 500.00.

      As such, you will be refunded the following:

      Purchase Price - Restocking Fee = Refunded Amount (MYR)

      Please do note that the restocking fee will also apply if you wish to return the item(s) to place another order.
    2. 10) For bulky items, our Logistics team will contact you to schedule for the collection. We will only perform the refund after we collect the returned item. All refunds will take 7 days to process and we will issue in the form of a credit back to the original method of payment.

    1. 11) However, The Layman’s Avenue reserves the rights to change the mode of refund.

 

Cancellation of Orders

If you change your mind and decide to cancel your order or any item(s) in your order, please notify us within twenty four (24) hours after your order has been confirmed prior to shipment. Once your order has been shipped out, any cancellations will no longer be entertained.

In the event you wish to cancel your existing order and place a new order, kindly note that a new delivery lead time will be given at the time of new purchase.

The Layman’s Group shall deduct 5% from your payment as administrative fees in addition to the transaction fees charged by the credit card company. The balance after deduction of the administrative fees and transaction fees will be refunded to you.

All refunds will take seven (7) working days to process and will be credited back to the original mode of payment. (Note: The day/date your cancellation is confirmed will not be regarded as a working day in advance).

Example: If your cancellation is confirmed on Friday this week, The Layman’s Avenue will only begin to process your cancellation on Monday next week, assuming there is no public holiday in between.

However, The Layman’s Avenue reserves the right to change the mode of refunds.

The Layman’s Avenue is unable to accommodate cancellations for all items. Please note that the following items are not eligible:

  • Products described as ‘Made to Order’, ‘Custom-Made’ or ‘Customized’ items.
  • PGoods ordered to your specifications (I.E.: monogrammed items, cut fabrics and wallpaper)
  • Items marked as Clearance, “As-is” or any form of display Items,
  • Items without an original receipt or gift receipt
  • Used beddings, towels, pillows and mattresses
  • Hazardous materials, live botanicals, aerosols

Warranty

The Layman's Avenue warrants that all our items are free from defective materials and workmanship. Warranty periods vary by product, commencing from the date of delivery and are defined in the table below.

If, during the warranty period, a product is deemed defective due to a manufacturing defect, The Layman’s Avenue will replace the item(s) at The Layman’s Avenue’s sole discretion. This warranty covers the replacement or repair of any product that has a manufacturing or material that is not the result of normal wear and tear, or a natural characteristic of the material used.



Claim Procedure

  • Any claims will have to be emailed to [email protected] with attached photos of defects, order number and a copy of the original receipt.

Limitation and exception

  • Proper care and usage are essential to preserving your rights under this warranty. This warranty does not apply if items purchased are damaged by using detergents, abrasives or other harsh cleaning agents.
  • This warranty does not cover damage resulting from negligence, abuse, normal wear and tear, or accidents: including (but not limited to) burns, cuts, scratches, tears, scuffs, watermarks, indentations or damage from pets.
  • This warranty does not apply if products are used outdoors, unless specifically stated otherwise.
  • Any product modification by consumer or other parties not authorised by The Layman’s Avenue will void this Warranty.
  • This Warranty does not cover items marked as ‘AS-IS’ or any form of Display items at the time of purchase.
  • This Warranty does not cover items not purchased directly from The Layman’s Avenue.
  • The Layman’s Avenue’s decision on all issues relating to complaints regarding defects, either of workmanship or materials, shall be final and conclusive. Any decision to repair or have part(s) replaced shall be at The Layman’s Avenue’s sole discretion.
  • Any items replaced under this limited Warranty will be covered by the limited Warranty for the remainder of the original warranty period only.
  • This Warranty covers in respect of manufacturing defects detected within the warranty period, the cost of material components, replacement parts, labour and transportation charges.
  • In respect of manufacturing defects detected after the warranty period, the cost of material components and replacement parts, with all labour charges and transportation costs (if any) are to be covered by the Purchaser.

Warranties provided do not apply to any products that have been altered by any person, dealer, or company without the express written authorization of The Layman’s Avenue.
